I've flown kilted in the US, Paris, and Frankfurt. I flew trousered for the 17-hours from San Francisco to London, but I flew back kilted (black UK Mocker) -- much more comfortable. I traveled kilted through most of Western Europe with no troubles.
The photos are on my website:

my only concern with flying kilted is I am a big guy and moving down the aisle is bad enough, people appreciate getting hit with my pleats. LOL but for domestic flights I usually wear a kilt. The flight back to the UK I am in shorts though, I don't want to repress my pleats with a long flight.

I guess if your are an X marker, the highest ambition in life is to have your photo taken with Hamish, the Kilted Legend! Way to go Bill.
