At the local motorcycle gig this weekend was looking at vest extenders...got to wondering if something like that would work for snap front kilts.
The vest extenders have a male snap on one end and a female snap on the other. There's a chain or leather braid in between. They snap to either side of a biker vest for decoration, to keep the vest from flapping in the wind, or to wrap around a belly like mine.
Know it might look weird, but could add a few inches to the snap front kilt waistlines for those of us gaining weight.

Dread, I too must apologise. Having so many posts to scan quickly just now, I was picking up on a general run of messages regarding weight loss. I did not intend to single you out. Being aware of your health problems, I certainly would not have come back at you alone with all guns blazing, as I seemed to do.
By the way, I'm flattered to be called 'dainty' (although I do prefer "thin"!!). For as long as I can remember, I've had a 36" waist. Then, after I retired, it begain to creep up to 38". Suddenly, this summer, it has leapt to 39"/40", which horrifies me. I'd give anything to get it back down to 36" - even having liposuction (as long as I didn't have to watch!!)
PS: I do have to remember to pull and hold my stomach in when the camera comes out!

There is nothing to apologise for as far as I can see. Did I miss something? You did nothing wrong... **Confuzzled**
Ham, we are closer in size than I thought... I am rapidly dwindling down to a 40. At about 42 to 43 inches right now.
Strange, but you look thinner. Mayhap because you are one of those tall people.

a 36? I think that was about 14 for me. LOL I would be happy to get back down to a 40...at a 36 I would be a kilted god! Women would fall before me in droves!!!!
hmmm maybe God did this to me for their protection. I mean unleashing that on the world hardly seems fair right? what? right? please...

It's sort of vague, but I remember having a 38" waist when I was fresh out of basic training. But that was a couple of decades and several inches ago. Right now I'm holding at about a 44, but I'd like to reduce that a few inches. Of course, then my kilts wouldn't fit.;)
But 36" is too far back to remember.

and now for something completely different.. grrr.
having the opposite issue here; started excercising after being a couch potato for a long time.... and I'm gaining weight.. waist unchanged, but bigger butt, bigger legs -->shorter kilts. GRrrrr. Having to move my stills down to my jeans waist when I prefer them up higher. GRrrr.
