Actually one of the ladies at one of the other Hancock Fabrics around here did tell me about that particular group of fabrics...they didn't have any on hand but I'm familiar with it because my children attended a school that required uniforms made from it. The stuff that I found is definitely wool and lighter and is not this material...but this stuff wears like iron (and is almost as stiff)...it's not uncommon for a girl's jumper made of that uniform polyester to be passed down through several kids in a family.
The lady at Hancocks expressed her opinion that this stuff was inordinately expensive and when most people who would sew their own school uniforms see the price they just give up and go to a uniform service and buy one ready-made...it's cheaper.

Auld, congrats on the material! Hancock is where I got mine. I am also jealous that your daughter is old enough to help with project (Hmmm, where is your son? too hip? :grin: ). I guess I will have to wait 3-4 more years before mine get to that point, but at least when I wear my kilt (for whatever occasion) my oldest tells me "You look handsome Daddy!".
