Checking in from Dayton, OH
I had a terrific time at the Ohio Renaissance Festival this weekend (where I work every weekend, but was there to play on Saturday), which was themed Highland Fling this particular weekend. One of the highlights was The Hunting MacLeods (all kilted, if you don't know them), a great band out of Canada. So I was searching Yahoo for more on them and came up with XMarksthescot.com and signed on up! I've been to Scotland 2 times and plan to get back more times in my lifetime. I love it over there - the people, the scenery, even the weather (I grew up in Seattle...)! Last week I ordered my first kilt. I was adopted and my adopted family has no ties to Scotland, so I figure I get to pick my homeland. And I can pick whatever tartan suits my fancy. For that kilt, I ended up with Royal Stuart Black, I think. It's a mini-kilt. Eventually perhaps I'll get something more formal.
Cheers to the men in kilts. May you keep wearing them and showing how great they can be! There are many who appreciate your daring!

Welcome Hilary,
A fine choice of tartan. I like your spirit of freedom ;)

Welcome. I saw a pretty good Celtic rock band in Dayton, once. It was at a convention, almost five years ago, and I don't remember their name, at all.
They were kilted. I remember that.

I and some friends had a lovely dinner at Nicholson's in Cincinnati last summer and I wouldn't mind a repeat! I just about died when I tasted their whisky bread pudding!
