No love for the Johnnie Walker line? The Red Label is a bit harsh, but Black is nice enough and Green is a treat. I drank a bit of Gold Label over the weekend (supplied by a friend) and found it entirely palatable.
Black is probably in the price range you're looking for, Damax.

P.S. If you're looking for Irish whiskey, forget Bushmills. Get Jamesons.

I'd like to try to get her some but have no clue where to look.
I don't know what their shipping rules are on spirits, but this is where I got my bottle.

Not that there is anything wrong with Johnie Walker. In fact, I tried some Black Label a couple of weeks ago and it was nice. But, I think most people prefer Single Malt Whisky and Johnnie Walked is a blended Whisky.

Sorry Bob I forgot Jamesons Also a very nice whiskey as is Tullamore dew.
I mentioned Bushmills because it's the only Distillery in Ireland I've visited.I remember getting a huge sample of black bush in the bar after the tour.

Here is a good web site for all to visit.

I am a member of the group and three or four years ago I had a chance to bid on some 25 year old Glengoyne (sp?). I won a bottle and it was the finest I have ever tasted. Cost about $180.00 US including the shipping. Well worth every penny spent...but then again I've never met a good single malt not worth every penny spent.

my brand...
I am a loyal drinker of The Macallan, but I do like Dalwhinnie, which is Scotland's highest distillery, according to whisky lore. Glenkinchie, a Lowland single-malt from around Endiburgh, is nae sae bad either.
Grouse is a good blend, and the Dimple Pinch is interesting -- only had it one time at a whisky tasting at the Scottish Club of Ft. Smith, Arkansas. One of our society members swears by a blend called "Grand McNeish" that was supposedly endorsed by the King of Sweden!
Slainte!

Ok, I ran over to the Hi-Time Wine Cellar after school, and asked them about shipping; they said they can ship to most of the U.S. There is a state that they can't ship to, but I can't remember which one (maybe Georgia?).
This place is huge, like a "Liquor Barn", except with a better, higher-end selection. They bill themselves as the "largest retail wine cellar in the west," but they have tons of spirits as well, after all, they are pretty much THE local wine and liquor supplier to go to for Newport Beach. If you can't find something you're looking for, it's worth checking with them.

Here's the link to the first of 13 pages of scotch. (I think that means they have over 350 entries for scotch - different sizes and ages, etc.)

I believe that it's South Carolina, seems that we're always the last one to do anything that makes any sense; and the first if it makes no sense!

Actually, I know that only distributors can ship to Massachusetts. Unless I order something through a store, I can't get alcohol shipped directly to me.
A pity, because according to that site, their Ardbeg 10yo is $41....
Andrew.
