a few questions
well, i didnae find a search option so i guess i'll just throw ma question out there..has anyone, specially the larger sized blokes like me, every thought about wearing braces with yer kilt ? ..i saw a movie where this scotman boxer wore his kilt in the ring, he was wearing some suspenders with it, and i thought , although not traditional, that it didnae look to bad. i'm thinking trying the non stretchy type with the leather ends and buttons on the inside of ma kilt, if it works out.
so what do anyone think about this ?

We're doing that for a VERY LARGE (62 " waist) Premier Kilt right now! It can be done and if you like the look, go for it!

Certainly some members of the London Scottish were wearing braces with their kilts in the 1960's.
Possibly this was to accomodate the fact that the kilts would be issued and re-issued to different soldiers, and so not a perfect fit. Thus braces would enable the wearer to get the length right, without the necessity of altering the kilt itself.
In essence-why not?

braces
well i hae a 46 waist, and ma kilt was made when i had a 48/50 .. lost some weight i guess, but it still fits fine with the belt, but add ma sporran and i get some slip.. i do like the looks of the braces, and why not indeed was my first thought, lol ... is there any historical evidence for braces with the kilt ..
anyway, it would be a matter of sewing on the proper buttons, no ?
cheers
