Sherry, that would be a definite YES! Not sure what brought her around, other than probably realizing that if this is a mid-life crisis, it is much milder than it might be! I also think that part of the real objection to the kilt was my wearing it to work and the possible affect on my career, as I have shared in other posts. From my perspective, it has had a positive affect. As many others have noticed, people seem more friendly when you wear a kilt, if only because they can't look at you directly and for more than a glance unless they at least say Hello. After an offsite department meeting yesterday, one of my manager's peers made it a point to come over and introduce himself and talk to me for a while. He might have done that if I were not wearing a kilt as I had not met him before, but the kilt certainly made it easy for him to know who I was!

Also, I think being open to the idea that if there was a time or place where she really did not want me to wear it, I would respect her opinion and go along with it also helped. I think other people's positive reactions has also helped, but I have not asked her about that.

I have also involved her by asking her opinion of whether what I am wearing goes well together and showed her the samples from Jeff at PK and asked which ones she would like for a kilt. Since I only have 2 suitable for work right now, my variery is limited and I have worn the SWK HW for the past 2 days due to the temperature. This morning she even commented "Have you worn that same kilt all week?". Kind of nice that she noticed. I think that when I was wearing pants I COULD have worn the same pair for a full week and I don't know if she would have noticed.

On a related note, my 2 female peers are liking the kilit and look forward to seeing how I accessorize it each day. I had a conversation with one of them last night about how much fun I am having getting dressed in the morning and deciding what will coordinate. She agreed, and complimented me on my efforts so far, and made the comment that men really do not have a very broad range of or selection of clothes for a business environment. All in all a good day. Can't wait to get home tonight and work some more on the one I am making.

Millar, in a word YES, but boy am I having fun.

Chasem, been there and done that! Just glad that I have been able to fund my habit, mainly by selling off some old PC's, laptops, and other computer equipment. Unfortunately, I am almost out of old equipment, which will mean I will have to curb my appetite.

Jimmy, that is what I expect. It has been yours, and others, comments about PK and USAK that drove me to consider thme for kilts, and both Jeff's and Rocky's customer service that made me place the orders.

GMan, IMO the sample Jeff sent me is even sharper looking than the one on his site. The one on his site is a black/brown overdyed in white, and the sample he sent is a black/white overdyed in brown and so is darker in color. I also think that the black and white pinstripe would be a sharp kilt, ala the 21st Century kilt suit, but definitely a summer weight kilt.

If that's the case, I'm looking to sell some drums, an amp, and a guitar

Chasem, eBay is your friend! Especially with most of our favored kilt makers accepting Paypal for payments! However, if you happen to rely on those drum, amp, and guitar for your livelihod...

On a serious note, I love a guitar and have wanted to learn to play one for many years. If you are looking to sell one, drop me a PM. Not looking for a Slash/Keith Richards (depending on your era!) electric contraption, just a basic around the campfire strumming instrument. Included lessons would be a bonus!!!

Heh, I don't play the drums any more. It was more of a "Hey, I think I could do this!" thing...

The guitar and amp... honestly, the amp I'm just trying to get rid of, the guitar I plan on selling so I can get an acoustic in its place. Of course, even if I didn't get an acoustic, I still have a trombone and a chanter to make music with

I visited the PK web site a couple of weeks ago and thought the Herringbone sound pretty neat, looking forward to the pics of the kilt.
