I like to stand out, as long as I'm not looking or acting like an *** while doing it. Since I've been told by many ladies that I look good in a UK, I'm willing to let that be one of the ways.
BTW, I just came from the grocery store, and one of the ladies who has commented favorably on my kilts told me a quick story. She said that a "kid" (she's 50ish and I'm 40ish, so who knows) was in the store a couple of days ago wearing a red kilt, and when she complimented him on it he started telling her about some guy he had seen in the store last week who had the coolest kilt he'd ever seen; it had pockets!! She told him that she knew who he meant, and that she'd ask me where I got it.
Also, I went into a different store yesterday, and this guy about my age stopped me to ask about washing UKs and how did I get it to soften up; he didn't wear his because it was stiff as a board still - after two dry-cleanings! I told him to wash it four times without drying, then hang-dry, then throw it in dryer with some sneakers or (like I do) half a dozen tennis balls to "beat the crap out of it." He said "Great, maybe now I can wear it more often." He apparently wears traditionals, but didn't say where or when.
Yup, we're the leading edge of fashion! ;)

Glen, did you ever find out what happened to the Denver Carpenters in Kilts?
I was thinking about that the other day.

Diana Rigg!! wow, when I was a lad I was in love with her.
Sadly, I suspect age and tobacco have taken their toll on her, I saw her recently in a film and was quite shocked.

To the best of my feeble knowledge Graham, the owner of the company moved to Southern California and took his kilted carpenters with him. Maybe they wanted to see if they could get closer to Diana Rigg under the noton that she might be out there.

I saw that manager again tonight, and I asked her if she had seen the guy again. Apparently it really was a kid. She said she had talked to the kids mother as well and the woman said that she was glad the kid was jazzed over the kilted style, it beat black leather and spikes, like some of the kids wear.

I just got this mental picture of Glen traveling all across the country spreading "kilt wearing", ala "Johnny Appleseed"
