What an inspiration to see all you blokes (and some lasses) involved in this great community of kilt wearers. I've just crossed that divide of "the unitiated" to the grand fraternity of The Kilted. Can't believe how good it is;should've done it years ago. I recently purchased my County Westmeath tartan kilt from a fine mob by name of All Things Tartan (dot com b.t.w.) and they've done a very tidy job indeed at i must add a price better than i could find internationally. well enough plug, i don't work for 'em but i'm just a bit chuffed.
Been wearing this fine garment for about a week now to a well reciving public. I play drums and sing for a living and gigged in it last weekend. My first big outing really, all bekilted, and got an awesome response. These varied from sassy old biddies saying "what're got underneath?" to blokes shaking my hand saying "Powerful mate, proud of yer!" Does this euphoria wear off or what? i'm almost suspicious, almost.
So I've been busting to share my enthusiasm with fellow enthusiasts. Feels good to have company. Cheers.

It's great to hear of someone getting excited about wearing their first kilt.

I have one kilt from All Things Tartan, Doug does a fine job, he's the best kiltmaker Down Under I think.

Mind you, how do you find a wool kilt up there in that heat?, have you thought of trying poly viscose?, it makes a really fine light weight, cool kilt that will take a lot of punishment.

I how you enjoy the forum and come back often.

(either that or in the Antarctic)(or Tasmania, just joshin'). well the 13oz is doing pretty well i must say but it's not the full nasty just yet. I'm on the Sunny Coast so we don't get it as bad as the rest really. I'll look into poly viscose if there's trouble that's for sure.The breeze 'tween thighs certainly does lower the temp tho i must say.
Glad to hear you know of A.T.T. in Ipswich. My kilt is beautifully made and strong. Makes all the difference doesn't it when you you know you've bought some fine craftmanship.
I'm also a jeweller by trade and I've ordered a belt and intend to make the buckle. In nickle silver I reckon.
Southern Breeze, were are you south of? Mate I tell you I'm hooked on this thing. Worse than golf but far more rewarding!

Can't say I know of any others just yet but as I play trad Irish music I often get to folk festivals so i dare say (hope) to see others. Do you know of a qld community of the Kilted mate?

Welcome Ozmeath, from a recent kilt convert from the Pacific Northwest of North America! I've been kilted full time since August and the euphoria hasn't worn off yet. and yes, it is an incurable affliction - seven kilts, one on the way.

Good to have you here. Do you have any didge music in your group? I know it's not celtic, but I have heard in in conjunction with other celtic music.
