OK, I promised photos:

Here is the slope layed out, ready for marking.
This kilt has only 1 1/2" differance between front and back.
But you can see the gentle "S" curve.
The flexible thingy is a piece of formica.

in this shot you can see the differance between the straight waistline and the sloped one.

I mark this line before starting the taper so I have something to go by.
I then start tapering using the dimensions I calculated but moving them up to the sloped line. Just as if the waist was straight.
