Looking forward to seeing a photo of you in the new kilt. Wonderful color (or lack thereof).

Wow! there's some really subtle color harmony in that tartan. Gotta look at it while to appreciate it.
I'll bet it does wonders when pleated and swishing.

I really like it Hamish, I was thinking that you could wear quite a variety of colours in a shirt with a tartan like that!
and with a nickname like mine (Gray) I really should have one too!
I'd love to see the final product, and no doubt we will with your nice new camera!
Quite an honour, well deserved!

That is absolutely awsome! I like it much more than the Granite or black-on-black tartans that are out there. I think I feel my bank account going down and my wifes blood pressure going up! I can already think of several events that would be ideal for that tartan. I'll be looking forward to some pictures Ham.

Yes, Gray (if you'll pardon my familiarity!!!), with a tartan such as the Grey Thistle Dubh, one has as much freedom with colour choice, for shirts at least, as one does with a plain black kilt, if not more. From pastel shades to bold, jewel colours, all will work well - just as long as they are plain colours and not patterned. Of course, for more formal wear, a shirt in exactly the colour of the 'Birch Grey' stripe will be effective, especially as the kilt will be pleated to that stripe.
Oh, yes! There will be photos. You may depend upon it!

That looks pretty sharp Hamish. I like it. Just when I think I've got the order in which I want to order all the kilts I want straight along comes another tartan that stikes my fancy.

Thistle Dubh! Hah!
The only tartan name I've heard that's funnier than that was made up by Hamish. When asked what tartan he his black kilts are, he answers, "The Macabre tartan."
I'd love to hear some of the responses to that one! I bet most of them are along the lines of, "Really? How interesting!"
