I think my thread title is misleading, now that I think about it. As the article states, the tartan is for OSU, not the state itself. This is the official State of Oregan tartan:

    I apologize for any misunderstanding.

    U of O tartan?

    Sherry,

Do you, or anyone else, know of a University of Oregon tartan? I got excited about this one because my boss is a huge Oregon fan (he is an alum) but not such a big fan of the kilt. So when I saw this I thought I had the perfect tartan to convince him to wear a kilt. Unfortunately, there is a huge difference between OSU and U of O! I did a quick search on tartansauthority, but did not find anything, but I am hoping that there is a "Ducks" tartan (other than Donald!).

I seem to remember our own Riverkilt as being an OSU grad...I'm sure he'll be interested in this...

Unfortunately, I have found nothing as well. I live in Eugene, the home of the Ducks, and I know a "Duck" tartan would be well received. The University has licensed their "Duck" logo from Disney. Perhaps they could license the McDuck tartan for the U of O?

Oh yeah, especially during football season. They call the matchup the Civil War. It get's pretty crazy here or in Corvallis, where ever the game is played.

    Go Ducks!

Ahh yes, not just an Oregon State alum, was a Tailflapper and got to be Benny Beaver a few times.

Been following this. Most disgusting part was when the current university president - whatever his name is - said he'd never wear a kilt.

Have only seen swatches, yet to see a pic of a kilt in the OSU tartan, gotta be intense with all that orange.

For you honored rivals at U of Oregon (Duck U), there are lots of "Irish" tartans that are thick with green, gold, and white to tide you over until the folks in Eugene get rolling with their tartan.

    I'm afraid I don't know of a U. of O. tartan either.

The orange in the O.S.U. tartan seems a bit subdued to me, so I don't think it would come across as too bright. Frankly, I've always felt sorry for ppl whose school colors involved orange!

And as long as there are men who say things such as they'd never be caught dead in a kilt, you know the educating must continue. Kilt on, gents!

    Smile Orange huh!

    Now wait a minute Sherry,
I graduated from a school who's color is orange. The University of Tennessee. They recently introduced their own tartan, and it has plenty of bright orange in it. I haven't seen a kilt it it yet, but I bet it would look spectacular.

Heathbar, is there an article on the UT site or a link to the tartan anywhere? Help us out, you can't tell us about it and not provide a link!
