Hamish, it is a bit of a mystery.

Albannach is the usual Gaelic for Scotsman, just as Sasannach refers to one from your own country. Yet a Russian is a Ruiseanach (note the single "n"). And somebody from Uist is a Uibhisteach (no "n's" at all).

Are we all confused now? ;)
