    A Years Wait

    Hell-o all,

About a year ago I was at the downtown library (kilted of course) and ended up talking to a high school junior about why I wear a kilt etc. Well yesterday I ended up going back to the library downtown, when this high school senior walks up to me behind the shelves and asks me do I remember him? Well after hem hawing around trying to get my memory banks working he came out from behind the shelf he was behind and then it hit me. Here was this guy donning a kilt (Sport kilt) then it hit me, this was the same chap I talked to a year ago.

Just thought that I would tell you that the seeds we plant in the minds of others, may not be seen right away.

Today I was walking across campus and a fellow hailed Me...Hey, Alan!

I turned and I vaguely recognized the guy. turns out he was someone I had tuaght introductory biology to, at Community college, almost fifteen years ago.

He finished up a degree and is now working in a Lab here at Stanford. You know what He told me? He told me that I was the only teacher he ever had that not only made him learn the content in biology class, but to think about the ethical, moral and practical ramifications of the science he was now doing in his lab.

And THAT, my friends, made my day.
