I also have a pair of red hose that I thought would go nice with this combination with some black flashes added.
Is it just me, or does everyone start taking more pride in their appearance when they are kilted? I know I've become very concious about color combinations, and wanting to look good even when dressed casually.
Note - I now have 10 SportKilts. They are: solid khaki, solid gun metal grey, All Irish Green, Amstrong, Irisher (a kelly green and cobalt blue combo), USA tartan, Saint Patricks, MacLaren Ancient, Stewart Black, and Black Watch. All have belt loops and sewn down pleats. Not bad for the money, and gives me a lot of variety on a limited income due to my disability. Obviously I'm addicted, and love wearing them.

Darrelll, first off WELCOME! Ok, now that that is out of the way, I think that you look fine, but a smile would go a long way! I realize that pain can be a significant deterent to a smile, but maybe a grimace and a thumbs up would fool people into thinking you are smiling!
Red hoses with that ensemble would work well too, even without the red polo, which does not really stand out much. If you really wanted to make a statement, wear the red polo and red hose with white or black flashes! You would make a very nice fashion statement.
As for taking more pride in your appearance while wearing a kilt, just read this forum. You will find that we all feel like we take more time in putting together what we wear with a kilt than we ever would have considered when wearing p#$%s!
Good on you for jumping in to kilt wearing. If you are on a budget, Amerikilts are also a good value, $95 US for a kilt, although they are a bit light if you live where winter occurs! Pittsburgh kilts are another good option, but Jeff is on hiatus for a while, and USA Kilts is also great! You can also find some good deals on eBay, but be careful.

Like it or not, when you're wearing a kilt, a lot of people will look at you, when they would otherwise not give a glance. So, if people are looking at you anyway, you might as well look good!
Being as tall as I am, I've noticed that I get a lot of positive comments from people, usually women, when I'm wearing a suit. When I'm wearing jeans and a t-shirt I get a lot of, "Wow, you're tall!" type comments.
Sorry to hear about your pain. But, kilts give you one more reason to smile.

You look fine to me Darrell, and welcome to the forum.
Your kilt looks much better than many first time pics I've seen.
Experiment with colour, ask your wife for help, if you don't have one, ask Hamish (for advice I mean)

Looks fine to me.
Personally, I've never been a big fan regarding the socks/hose like that (I'm young and a recovering semi-GQ-punk), but you’re wearing in a traditional manner, so its the proper way. Besides, there aren't a whole lot of other ways to wear them.
What's the history of the flashers anyway?

We've discussed that on several occasions, and the answer is .... yes.
Unfortunately, some of us are "coordination-challenged" due to things such as semi-color blindness, and I, for one, occasionally get the "you didn't wear those together today, did you?" when I've left the house after my wife in the morning.

Flashes evolved from a ribbon tied around the hose as a garter. Elastic do be mo bettah. ;)

Just my 5 bob Darrell,
Firstly welcome to x marks if I haven't said hello before.
1)Did you tuck in your jumper to show us the kilt ? If not wear it outsde the kilt you look a bit tied up with it inside the kilt.
2)Personally I 'm not a lover of black hose. They always make the legs look thinner. Try a lighter oatmeal or natural colour when you get the chance.
Other than that stick around at X and get more ideas about how to wear and use your kilt. Good effort with a little time you'll be perfect...IMHO:grin:

Welcome Darrell!
Kilt looks great!
I personally think there's a bit too much black in the combination...makes it all a bit moody. Maybe a dark red sweater and a white shirt will do the job...oh and...Smile!

Or...add another colour...dark green sweater and hoses...red or white shirt and red flashes.
