Seeing as tomorrow is thanksgiving her in the states, I have been in deep thought.

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays.

It’s a time when we gather with family and friends.

Yet no gifts are expected.
We just come together to share, fellowship, and enjoy each others company.
For me it is always a time of reflection.

So here are some of the things I am thankful for.

1. Having been able to know my Grandmother for 40 year.

My “Maw Maw” was 95 this past April. She as always been a very strong source of

stability, humor, wisdom, and love. She left this world on Saturday the 12th of November 2005. Her greatest wish the last ten years of her life was that she would not have to go to a rest home. We were able to make this wish happen. She had trouble with small strokes over the years and the last one was too much for her to bear.

Grandma just sat down and said “I do not feel well” and it was as if she just went to sleep. She was a small Irish woman who raised a family of seven through the great depression. She knew what it was to do without and how to survive. She also taught me tons about being prepared. I will miss her yet words can not describe how thankful I am to have had her in my life.

2. For a loving wife who cares for her slightly crazy kilted man.

3. A close family on both my wife’s and my side.

4. Friends. Some are close and some are miles away.

Many I have made right here on this forum.

5. Kilts and Xmarks.

6. Whisky

I wish all of you a great Thanksgiving.
