I treated myself last payday to a new kiltpin, the thistleknot:

    http://www.celtarts.com/kiltpins.htm

Ordered on a Friday, arrived on the following Wednesday. It's well made and a good value; it's also at least somewhat reminiscent of the kiltpin Hamish has on.

Bryan...by the way Hamish, that new kilt of yours is beautiful...

This is the problem with coming a bit late to a post: nothing brilliant to add!

All I can say is WOW!

Everyone wants you to write a guide book, Hamish, but you could also fill your own coffee table photo book.

Looking very dapper as always, and the kilt is just fantastic. Your gallery is fast becoming my fashion reference. I find myself consulting it whenever looking for a specific combination and trying to decide if it will work or not. You have saved me many a time from signifigant bad fashion statements and ill advised combinations.

Take care ... looking forward to #59!

No.59/#59 will probably be my "X Marks...." kilt. I handed the tartan fabric over to Howie on Saturday, and this will be transformed into another traditional 8 yarder which will be ready for me to collect on January 14th.

PS: I rather like the scarf too!!

Congrats on No. 58, an excellent choice.
My apologies, Jim. Maybe I misled you as I now realise that I didn't name this tartan when posting the photos.

'Highland Granite' is a grey tartan woven by Lochcarron in Scotland which I was considering. At that time, Howie showed me Geoffrey (Tailor)'s own very new grey tartan: 'Grey Thistle Dubh'. When I compared the two, it was the latter that I preferred and, when I was offered the very first kilt to be tailored in it, my choice was made.

So, yes, my new kilt is in the 'Grey Thistle Dubh' tartan
