    Robin,

Don't have an Isle of Skye but would like one. Bet its worth the wait.

    Are we cousins?

    Thanks Ham,

One of the best things about this board is being reassured or forewarned about customer service from vendors.....though sometimes I ignore the advice...into week four waiting for kilthose and flashes from Clansman Knitwear that Ralph expected to be shipped right out...he's out of town and though staff seems to want to help, no one seems to be able to.

Sorry, think I'm way off track here...jonesing for kilt hose....now that's SICK!!

Ok, so it sounds like the 'kicking' pleat is a feature rather than a bug? That would be fine by me (perhaps it was just a marketing ploy of that shop).

    http://members.aol.com/ccckilt/ccc.html

Granted they don't have much of a marketing arm, but the people in the shop described that thier kilts will never have the first pleat 'kick' or be pulled to the wearer's right.

Also, Colin, if you're coming out to Doolin's this Saturday, I'll be showing up after the GF's Christmas party, and you can take a look first hand.

I have noticed that their price has gone up over the past few days. I was tracking them in anticipation of christmas and what started at 307 is now about 324 and the 5 yarders at 255 are now about 284. May have to wait for the price to drop back down.

    I fear not...

I've Celtic ancestors...most likely from either the Louth or Laois county in Ireland...or maybe a Lewis from Wales, even a MacLeod is possible...not much is certain about my family before 1690.

Dutch civil servant probably had some serious problems understanding the poor guy when he tried to get himself registered :-D

So now I'm stuck with a crapy family name...Lous :-?

I'm curious too. I know there's a Hector Russell/Whisky Store by Union Square - going there the second week of January. Off to MacWorld Expo, woohoo!

I love the Hector Russel Store and Whiskey Shoppe in SF (360 Sutter Street for those who are interested). Last time I was physically there I spent almost $2000 in less than an hour.

Now everytime I call in an order they remember me immediately and treat me like royalty. It's amazing what having very little self-control while shopping will do to employees hoping for a big commission!

But they do have really great products.

These are the fellows who made my tank-and I love it: can't say enough good things about the workmanship and materials, and they kept to their schedule (well, at least they did 4 or 5 years ago).

Bryan...and accent the gal on the phone had made my brains leak out through my ears...

Kiltstore prices may or not be better. They advertise 5 yard made to order kilts from $182 with the Xmark discount. However I just bought one from Scottishkilts (I don't have it yet as I only ordered it two weeks ago) but the price was $217. The same tartan in 5 yard from kiltstore is $262 (not the $182 - they only have a few tartans at that price most are quite a bit more,)
