I think for this time of year I'd go with the red & green also.

The antlers should have flashing lights.

What tone are you looking to set?

KCW - I join the apparent consensus: go with the Scottish National. My taste inclines me toward the red flashes and (a) navy hose -- kind of mirroring the tartan or (b) white hose. Red tie as long as it works with the other reds in play. Since you kilted at the office is still a bit novel. maybe err on the side of caution and bank the red hose for next year? Your call, bro.

I'm in the "what to wear end" too. It's going to be busy next week:

Monday: afternoon launch event for a company-sponsored 'women's network' the creation of which I challenged because of the content of the annoucement. The message was 'women only' and in this day and age you don't do stuff like that - especially when the company line is "one-for-all and all-for-one." ??: I'm assured there's no exclusionary intent yada yada yada. Since I challenged it, I figure I should at least attend to hear what they have to say publicly. And let them ponder the 'diversity' of a Caucasian, Scottish-American, Lutheran male clad in Black Stewart, button-down shirt and (maybe) sweater.

    Tuesday:company holiday reception (assuming I don't get sacked Monday afternoon :-) ).

    Thursday: wife's office party.

    Friday: church Christmas party.

Shooting for Royal Stewart for all the parties. Ties and button-down shirts for the offices and maybe winged-collar/bow-tie for the church.

Weather permitting I head to the Piper's Cove tomorrow to rent a jacket. They only hire out Prince Charlies. I figure if I omit the waistcoat for the office affairs I'll get a less formal look. And if I want to tog up for my church's party I bring in the waistcoat etc. -- but then I might be compelled, forced and otherwise made to act against my will to pick up a semi-dress or formal sporran tomorrow too -- uh-oh...

    KCW,

You don't mention a jacket . . . is that part of the plan?

You also mentioned "white" socks from SK -- are they white, or off-white / cream?

My suggestion would be your option given for the Scottish National, except off-white / cream hose. To me, the red hose would compete with the kilt. So: Scottish National kilt, white shirt, red tie, red (or maybe green) flashes, cream hose.

    Regards,
    Mark

Jingle bells. Must have jingle bells attached to antlers &/or flashes.

Or really freak people out and attach the jingle bells to the back of the inside apron!

OK, ignoring the posts that are just off the wall, I am hearing a consensus for the Scottish National. To answer some questions, I will be wearing a jacket, black Argyll, I do not have cream hose, only the SK white , and while this is a company sponsored event, I am not too concerned about appearances (already have gotten some vibes and feedback that me attending has stirred up extreme interest in WHAT I will be wearing!).

A Dhuglas, good luck with your own events! I had not thought about navy hose and red flashes, could be a good option. To a certain extent, I am leaning toward the most colorful (OK, maybe flamboyant) outfit, that is still tasteful and fashionable given the occasion. I don't have many opportunities to wear red hose, which is why I am considering them, but I don't want to look like a clown (or out of work piper) either.

Keep the opinions coming. I MAY get ambitious and post some pictures of some of the suggestions tomorrow, but will definitely post pics of the final ensemble.

And of course, I will post a follow up on any comments I receive at the party!
