I'm afraid that I'm a bit predjudiced but the Carolina Tartan is gorgeous. You can see it if you go to District Tartans and select "Tartan Finder" and then USA and Carolina. The colors are a little brighter in reality than shown there but it's very close.
I'm really psyched about this kilt. It's wonderful and as Matt has said it's not only the District tartan of the state I grew up in but is based on the wedding tartan of Charles II. He was a Stewart and I'm a Stewart and the Carolina's were named for the Stewarts. How 'bout that for a "connection"??
I'd go with the wingtips, and red flashes if you have them, to pick out the strip of your tartan. Sounds like you'll be the envy of every man at the parties, and the desire of every woman.

Well last night went extremely well. We had a very nice time attending way to many parties. However, that being said my kilt was warm, comforable and got me quite a few compliments. The pics did not turn out as well as I had hoped but I did send a copy of the best one *yes, only one) to both David and Matt in case they want to post it on their sites. I'm not sure that I 'm going to post here until I get some better pics over the holidays. I'm not that vain about my appearance but I want the pics to show their products in the best light.
The oddest thing that happened to me all night was I walked up to a group of people and was introduced. Instead of getting the "Are you from Scotland?" question or "Where are your bagpipes?"...what I actually got from one of the Parrish Priests was "You must be from the Western Carolinas). That was a new one and I was rather floored as it was dead on. The only thing I can think is 1). He heard what's left of my southern accesnt earlier while ordering at the bar and 2.) He knows a bit of colonial history.
