I can't speak to SW's quality or anything b/c I don't own one, but I have seen a few up close. Please note... I'm NOT knocking them, just pointing something out. I REALLY DON'T think that his are Poly Viscose... I think SW's are either Poly acrylic or Poly Cotton (which would explain the pilling), but I'm not 100% sure since I don't have 1 in front of me to touch.

We've JUST (yesterday) received the "Ireland's National" tartan in Poly Viscose and it's better looking than it was in the swatches! It's not on the site yet, but will be in a few weeks. If you'd like to see a pic, email me and I'll send you one.

Keith... your kilt will go out Tuesday!

Hope this info was helpful, David.

The Stillwater standards and Economy are acrylic, the heavyweights have been either wool or a wool blend as I understand it.

Yes, sorry. The economies and standards are acrylic. The heavyweights were originally acrylic, but are now wool.

I got the SWK last week 100% wool and it has gotten me a whole lot of compliments. Well worth the money but I got it on ebay.

    I've got one of each.
The Stillwater is a nice traditional looking kilt, but not tailored. The length and the taper from waist to hips might not fit just right depending on your measurements. In my case, I need to wear the stillwater a little high because I really need a 22” length.
The USA, on the other hand, fits perfect. It sits right on my waist and is just the right length. I wish it had buckles instead of velcro, but the attention to detail is flawless. The apron is cut so the pattern is perfectly symmetrical. It is cut wider at the bottom so it doesn’t curl out (something the stillwater does). The pleats line up perfectly.
Of course, the stillwater is comfy and has more fabric. And, of course, the Velcro on the USA makes it easier to put on and off.
I like them both. Maybe you should just get one of each and tell us which one you like best.

Remember, the velcro is only on the USA casual. It's still buckles on the Semi-Trad and Premier.
