I do it all the time. Make sure your sporrans are on leather straps - not chains, and made so they can swivel around on the strap.

I put mine to the side when working, running etc. sometimes even round to the back!

I've moved it to the hip occasionally to get it out of the way for one reason or another, but I don't wear it that way. But I agree that is a casual, everyday situation, wear it however you like.

I personally like having my sporran on the front. I find it more convenient when I'm looking for my lighter.

Oh yes while walking with an exceptional fast gait, that is the only way to do it. As Graham has stated make sure you use a leather strap and NO CHAIN.

One more thing when you get to your destination, make sure to move it back to the front while partying (hey, you are always partying while kilted).

I usually wear my sporran in front as I walk around the city, but if I'm running for any reason, or doing some other activity where my legs are lifting more than usual (such as contra dancing) I'll definitely pull the sporran around to one side or the other (usually my right side, because I'm right handed).

I have yet to purchase my first sporran, I've been making use of a UK detachable pocket on my belt. In the past I've looked now and then for other such things, leather and otherwise, which I could attach to or hang off my belt. That way I could have some roomy like a sporran hanging lower as well as small cases and pockets higher up and possible around the back.

I usally move my sporran to the left when I'm working or sitting at a table to eat I mainly find it annoying to have a sporran in my front when I'm doing stuff.
