    Kilt Related Christmas Gifts?

So, what did you get for Christmas that was kilt related?

Myself, I received a "How To Knit" kit, with the goal of making my own kilt hose and cable knit sweaters.

    Otherwise, nothing else kilt related.

    What about you?

I was very pleased this year with my "kilt-related" take. At the big family Christmas Eve event last night with my in-laws the Secret Santa present I received was 2 pair of very nice wool kilt socks. My mom is getting me a Balmoral cap. My other relatives said that they bought kilt-related items but too late for the gifts to arrive my Christmas. And of course, my wonderful honey Nopadon is getting me a new USAK in the Weathered MacKay!

I think I've done very well indeed.

Nothing as far as kilt related, but I did hear that my nephew wants to go to Scotland after he leaves Germany and the world cup.

Nothing directly Kilt-related, but I got a hardcover copy of one of my favorite books, How the Scots Invented the Modern World and a CD of some new Celtic tunes compiled by the host of NPR's Thistle and Shamrock.

I received two kilt pins for Christmas.

One is the Scotland the Brave (lion) kilt pin from Scottishkilts.net.
    http://scottishkilts.net/products/th..._kilt_pin.html
This is a distinctive, large and heavy kilt pin. Although I put it on an 11-ounce pv kilt, it is probably better suited for a heavier weight kilt.

The other is a US Air Force kilt pin from Alexis Malcolm Kilts.
    http://www.alexismalcolmkilts.bigste...generic25.html
This is a nice kilt pin that is well worth the money ($36). The sword portion of the pin is a pewter art kilt pin made in Scotland. The USAF emblem and surrounding wreath are added by a jeweler in Florida (according to Alexis Malcolm). Alexis is the only source I know of for US military kilt pins. She has them for all services, including the US Coast Guard.

I got some good knee-high socks from my mother, and also a nice sweater, which I suppose isn't directly kilt related, but my mother suggested that it would go well with some of my kilts. She was right!

i didn't get anything kilt related, but i did give a kilt and some kilt related items. my dad has a homemade ancient kilt that he wears to renaissance festivals, but that's the extent of his kilted life. i have in my possession an acrylic blackwatch kilt that i got off ebay that no longer fits so i told him that he could have it if he wanted. at first he wasn't too hip on the idea, but a couple of months ago he called and asked if he could still have it and could he borrow some of my extra accessories so that he could wear them to my sisters wedding this summer (now the kilt i offered him isn't a formal kilt, but it does look pretty decent for what paid for it and it is a very casual wedding so i think he'll look fine). so for xmas i gave him the kilt along with a pair of kilt hose, black watch flashes, a leather day wear sporran, and a sgian dubh. he was psyched and i think he'll look great at the wedding, and hopefully he'll wear it other times as well. :-D it truely is better to give than to recieve...

My wife got me a gorgeous black leather bomber jacket that I'd had my eye on. It will look great with my kilts...sort of a "Duncan" from MOTG casual look.
