    Yesterday

Yesterday we went for a full days walk with some friends to a remote waterfall in the hills that you can walk behind. It been so cold here in Wales at present, (as it has throughout the UK), we thought it might have started to freeze over. When we left the car it was -4 and crossing the moors was into a good head wind. But my Cilt/Wool socks etc kept me totally warm throughout the whole trip. Took us about two hours walking to get there and once we had reached the waterfall it started snowing quite heavy and did continue to do so until we got back to the car. We didn't spend to long at the falls as with the weather setting in we wanted to get back to the car before it got dark. We had parked next to a small one room farmers pub. On our return to the car I went immediately into the pub for a pint. There were 8 men in there drinking. All local people ... aged 40 to 70. They all greeted me with open arms and took no notice whatsover that I was wearing a Cilt. I took all my jackets off, relaxed and just settled in by the roaring fire they had going with my pint. The landlord went and got a few pictures he had taken of the waterfalls back in 60's. Then the wife came in to join me .. the others stayed in the car having coffee. All I can say to anyone who is unsure about wearing their Cilt/Kilt at times ... don't worry about it and just do it .. it really does work. Heres a few pictures.

Great pics, Derek. I couldn't help but notice a scar on the right knee. Did you have surgery on it? I'm currently considering knee replacement, If that is a surgical scar, it gives me encouragement thatI could have the surgery and still remain active as well as pain free.

I always enjoy your pics of the Welsh countryside, Derek (as well as the folks having a good time therein, kilted or not!). What is the tartan you're wearing for the hike and a pint? It looks a bit like the Davies/Davis, but it's hard to say.

Bryan...by the way, Penderyn shipped for the first time to the States this past month-I might finally get a bottle  ...

Indeed, lovely story and pics! I long for the day I can talk my wife into doing something like that. I have a hard enough time getting her to walk to the store with me that's just 1/4 mile away. A 2 hour walk over the hills would be unthinkable to her.

But then again, so was camping and I've finally convinced her to try that once the weather warms up.
