I think that's a cool idea. But what about those of us not up to the task of sewing a kilt ourselves. Maybe we could do smaller projects, like learning how to make our own flashes, sporran belts, etc.

Glassman, if you commit to supplying some good single malt, I think that the rest of us would be grateful for someone who could tackle the accessories! We can't learn everything in a long weekend. And I would love to see this as a Celtic Clothing camp that encompassed every facet of kilt wearing.

I know one thing I could teach. I've been making really cool kilt pins by rotating hat pins in a blowtorch flame while winding molten glass around them. Then I bend the pin just past the top of the design and it's ready for use as a kilt pin. It's a ton of fun. And come on, what guy will pass up a chance to work with a blow torch!

    Ooooooh!!! Fire. Me like!

I'm not really sure I want to tackle kiltmaking either. Working on some accessories might be fun. Of course the extracurricular activities and comraderie would be great.

That sounds really cool. Gotta any pics of this posted here? If not, will you?

I have always wanted to work with molten glass. Sculpting was my favorite thing I studied in my art training, and I always loved materials that could give one very organic shapes. That would be a great perk to the Kilt Kamp.

I've got so many items that I've made that I need to photograph to put up on my website that it isn't even funny. I need more hours in the day.

And a kilted summer camp somewhere cooler than DC sounds so nice right about now.

Phil, I will selflesly offer to help you out. Just send me a sample of each item you wanted photographed and I will do the rest. Of course, I am not sure when/if I will be able to return the samples... but that is a small price to pay for advertising, right? And I will even work them into an online catalog for you!

    Barb,

It would be a real honour to host you and your family here in Victoria.

This is where you would be staying.

    http://www.earleclarkehouse.com/

The owners are Peter Such (renown author & Professor Emeritus) and his wife Joyce who is a well known artist and Gormet cook.
Peter is a customer is mine. The Earl Clarke House is a stones throw down the street from my home and two blocks from the shop.

We would find some way to cover your expenses. Don't have all the details until I speak to Peter.

For the rest of you plebes we would perhaps rent the gym of the High School. (scene of filming for the "scream" movies) Army cots, food over colman stoves, and outdoor plumbing just to give an authentic "Camp" atmosphere. ;-) ;-)

I suppose everyone could bring their all pants so we could have a nightly bonfire.
