Fortunately, my brown day sporran came with a strap.
Darn, thought I'd figured out an easy way to get a free sporran!

Today I went to a shoe repair shop to get my black kilt belt shortened (I received a 40/46 instead of a 34/40)...they not only did a nice job, but I also came home with a black and dark brown leather (sporran) strap....chrome buckle on the black and a brass buckle on the brown...€ 8 each (about $ 10).

Got my sporran straps from Robert at RKilts after a nightmare of communication and an incredible wait for Craigie. Maybe you'd have better luck than I with Craigie. But would suggest Robert if he's still making them.
Like the dog leash and camera strap ideas too.

I really like the straps they include with the sporrans here:

They don't have any chains or buckles, but instead one end laces through the other.

I highly recommend MacKenzie Frain!
I've a brown belt from them...very friendly service, they use high quality leather and the craftmanship is superb.
Not cheap, but you get what you pay for...quality.

For for sporran straps check outRobert at www.rkilts.com or email Rudi at www.celticempire.com I am sure both can sort you out for a good price.

I quite agree about their prices Colin, and I do have a Freelander Sporran on the wish list. I do like that strap though, and it looks like it would be easy enough to duplicate, a long tapering strap with a few slots in it.
