Skirts ahoy!
I've also seen many men wearing gang bangers. From my point of view they look like hell (forgive the theology). The other day an older gentleman (older than me at 60) made the comment that those baggy pants just show they really want to wear skirts. He wasn't saying it negatively, he wasn't wearing a kilt, he simply was observing that the direction of men's clothing seems to be headed for skirts!

I was talking to a friend today while in my black UK original. We were sitting outside a restaurant waiting for another friend to arrive). When this other friend arrived, he asked where's your kilt? I stood up and said right here. He then told me he thought I was wearing those baggy shorts. A reverse double take.

To carry the "hanging off the **** baggy pants and novelty print boxers" thing a bit further....why, can you tell me, do I see so many young men dressed this way walking around with their hands down their pants presumably hanging on to their....let's use the term...talleywhackers (found that one in a book of Appalachian folk stories)? I find this unbelievably rude....don't these jamokes have parents to tell them that it's not socially acceptible to walk around with your hands in your pants?
There was post a while back that noted that remote TV crews were being advised to beware of men in kilts hanging out in the background...presumably because they were afraid that they were going to get the "Braveheart Salute" while they were filming. Did this advisory also include the "pocket pool" crowd as well?
I only mention this because I still can't believe that any guy wearing a kilt properly can still get any kind of criticism from anyone in a world where so many people dress in such a lovenly manner.

Their father's probably sit at home watching TV in wife-beater t-shirts and unzipped pants scratching their testicles throughout the entire show without any thought.

I've done the double-take maybe once. I'm pretty good at spotting the absurdly baggy shorts and rolling my eyes in disdain. Yeah, the fact that I saw a guy a couple days ago wearing a pair that was so baggy and falling so far down that he was literally hanging onto his shorts with one hand while he talked on his cell phone with the other. He hung up his phone and continued walking and I observed that he literally hitched his shorts up about every two seconds while keeping one hand on them constantly for security's sake apparently. If it hadn't been for his extremely long t-shirt I think everyone would've been seeing his "novelty boxers" in their entirety as another poster mentioned. So people dress like this and yet we wear kilts and endure derisive comments. When I get a comment from someone dressed like that I simply smile to myself and think that at least I buy clothes of a proper size and actually keep them pulled up so that I appear to have some self-respect.

Ron,
I agree that there are far too many of those ghastly, baggy shorts (Shorts? Huh!) out there nowadays, but I cannot comment on the ages of those wearing them as I try to look away the instant I become aware of the garb - the less I see of them, the happier I am!
However, I have noticed that blue-jeans seem to be rather less baggy than they were. In fact I am not alone in this as a friend commented to me a week or two ago that he had noticed that the shops are selling narrower jeans again. I am old enough to remember guys sqeezing into their new jeans, then sitting for ages in baths of cold water to shrink them even more! Maybe, and hopefully, guys of all ages will soon be following suit and will be wearing shorts that are just that: short!
