I only wear my sporran when I leave the house. I find wearing it at home just gets in the way.

I wonder if you could make a subtle solid colour pocket to go with the kilt. Sure it would cover part of the tartan but it could work.

Of course TFCK does the pockets in tartan too http://www.21stcenturykilts.com/tartan.htm

Possibly the dominant color in the tartan would be an option, right?
I looked at the pic and the pockets dont really align to the tartan, but it doesnt look so mismatched after all. hhMMMM, I might be a pioneer here...

If I wore kilts around the house, I'd have to guess I'd take off the sporran, much as I take my wallet and watch off when I get home from work.

I'd never wear a kilt out of the house without it, though.

No, I have no reason to.

I wear one with most of my kilts because they have no pockets and I need someplace to keep my stuff. That and I think tartan kilts just look better with a sporran.

Now with my Pittsburgh Kilt I don't, because it has pockets. And if I need a little more carrying capacity, I can attach the pouches that I got with it.

I always wear my sporran. I don't like wearing the very stiff ones so I made one that's simply a fairly soft pouch with a flap. It's comfortable and doesn't get in the way at all.

Do women typically carry their purses on them about the house? No. Then why would it be any different with men?

Even wearing pants, I always empty my pockets as soon as I get home. No need to carry my wallet and car keys around with me when I'm just at the house.

I take mine off when I'm home.

Then again, I also walk around naked alot when I'm home, so keeping the sporran off would only be natural.

But you DO put the sporran back on to answer the door, right?
