Do women typically carry their purses on them about the house? No. Then why would it be any different with men?
Even wearing pants, I always empty my pockets as soon as I get home. No need to carry my wallet and car keys around with me when I'm just at the house.

I take mine off when I'm home.
Then again, I also walk around naked alot when I'm home, so keeping the sporran off would only be natural.

But you DO put the sporran back on to answer the door, right?

I only had the trad for a couple of days but it looks like I already found my way. When I come home I drop off the sporran and change my trad to SportKilt. Just better when lying dead on the sofa wathing tv and such. And no sporran. I can surely move my cellphone from table to another by hand, or even go to another room to answer it when its ringing!

Once and only once, I was walking around the house without the sporran and my lovely wife said "Honey, you look much better wearing the sporran". I wasn't sure if she meant with or without the kilt, so I always wear it now. It pays to keep the chief financial officer happy ;-)

If I haven't ventured out of the house yet, no sporran.
If I've gone out and come home, sporran.
Occasionally I will take it off once I get home...all depends on, well, nothing really. Just if I want to or not.

I never wear a sporran around the house. I sometimes wear one shopping if I need the pocket. I always wear one when wearing a kilt with jacket and tie.

Without, and I agree with Mac and Schultz (hope thats not TMI!). When I wear pants I take my wallet, keys, change, cell phone off when I walk in the door and put them on the counter. No different with the sporran, although if I am going back out I can just take off the sporran and strap and have everything all together!
However, as mentioned on another thread, that is the advantage of a contemporary kilt, POCKETS! I find that I like the look of a sporran with a tartan kilt, but for every day wear, a UK or other pocketed kilt, is the way to go.
The kilt concealed a blaster strapped to his thigh. Lazarus Long

I always leave my sporran on. I have the Kidder Country Sporran and attach it to my kilt belt with belt loops. This seems to keep the sporran out of the way as compared with a chain. And for some reason, I feel better with the sporran on.
