I'm sorry to keep coming up with photos, Cameron!;) Yes, as you can see below, I have a leather Utilikilt. It was actually the first one to be sold (and is signed, numbered and dated by Steven Villegas himself!) That was three years ago (Jan '03). Not so very long after that they changed the design slightly and introduced the lace-up sides. A friend of mine has one of the newer ones and loves it to bits, but I have to say that I much prefer the clean lines of my 'unfussy' kilt over his. I believe Utilikilts have also introduced trouser-style pockets now, but mine has just one back hip pocket.

This kilt is weighty, but it's one of those that you really do not want to take off at the end of the day, it is so comfortable!

I have to ask (although someone may have already), but is your Kollection insured? I have done a rough approximation of the value of what is hanging in your closet, based on current kilt prices, and it is way too much to not have insured!

And if it is unsured, is it a separate rider policy to your homeowners, or something totally separate.

This is sound advice for any of us really, especially those with tanks that we paid $500 or so for. From what I understand most home-owner's insurance policies will cover items that are in the home should something happen *to* the home or *in* the home. Though some policies might cover stuff outside the home that the policy holder owns.

I had 60 CD's stolen out of my car several years ago. The car insurance covered the broken window, but not the CD's. However, because the car was in my mom's name, her home insurance covered the CD's. And that was the last time I had any positive feelings about insurance companies. Now I fully understand that insurance is just legalized racketeering.

Anywhooo, perhaps the Xmarks'ers here that are wiser than I can shed some light on the subject more.

I am sorry, Rob, I only just caught up with your post.

You are right. Taken as a whole, the 'Kollection' (including all the accessories) does mount up to a considerable figure. If I were to insure it as a single unit (a collection) it would cost me quite a premium. However, each item is covered individually under my house contents policy, although if I were to lose the lot at one time, say in a house fire, I might not be fully covered. This needs to be checked out - thanks for the nudge.

Hello CT:

I've got 5 leather UK's. While Hamish has the 1st production leather UK, I have the 1st prototype leather UK. It was done in the Workman's style with removable side cargo pockets. It has 1 back pocket and leather straps / buckles to replace the cargo pockets when they are not in place. It was done in a lighter, softer leather than the production ones.

The other 4 are... 1 black leather (just like Hamish's); 1 brown (Dark Tan) with leather side laces; 1 distressed bomber jacket brown leather with side laces and 2 front / 2 rear pockets; 1 buckskin with side laces and 2 front / 2 rear pockets.
