Can you tell me how they are reacting to the kilt in the main dining room for dinner, since they always say they want men to wear long pants? Have they given you any grief about wearing the kilt?

We took one of those cruise ships out of Ft. Lauderdale to the Bahamas. About half way there we ran into a gale lasting about 30 minutes which would keep you from falling on the deck while leaning into it. That wind would have had a kilt up around my head. I guess that's why you don't see too many kilted sailors.

    Well, we're baaaaackkkk.......

Whew and worn out. We always try to do too much on these trips.

The Kilted Cruising was successful in that it was sort of a non-event. I got some compliments and some " I wish I'd brought my kilt" but mostly just went about our business. I normally only wore my kilts in the evenings and bathing suits etc during the the day.

I'll have to dig for pictures. We take a lot but not many of ourselves but I should have some.

Dave, this was not a 'normal' cruise in that it was a charter so normal procedures vary a bit. There is no formal dinner night and no set seatings for dinner. (Plays a bit of hell with the wait staff until they adjust to it.)

With that being said what they actually ask is for no shorts in the dining room. A kilt would be appropriate attire for the dining room in either semi-formal or formal style.

Thanks, I still haven't decided if I will go kilted my entire cruise in May. I am certainly planning to wear the full rig on formal night.8)
