I know what you mean, I was in Phoenix the last week-end of July 2005 for my nieces wedding and I wore a 16 oz wool tartan Kilt. Luckily there was an incredible monsoon rain the day of the wedding and it turned out just perfect.
I will be in Phoenix this July again for a reunion of the 1st Infantry Division and I plan on wearing a Kilt to that function also. I haven't seen some of those guys for 36 years. That should be a lot of fun.
