The photos posted in this thread look daffy because of a "color balance" mismatch. The digital camera was set to "daylight" balance and they were shot under "indoor" lighting. That always makes things look yellow/orange.

It looks like the Anderson tartan... the different color variations could be due to your monitor and/or the fact that different mills use different dyes in their different colors. Stewart of Appin Hntg from HOE and Strathmore are COMPLETELY different, but they're the exact same tartan.
The wool looks like "blanket weight" wool. It's a wool/felt blend which is "puffier" than $50/yard wool. Can you make a kilt from it? Yes. Will it look like a $500 kilt? never. I'm not trying to burst any bubbles... I'm not speaking to the skill of the maker, just the material itself.
It's the old saying... you get what you pay for. Is this wool blend an acceptable replacement for $50/yard wool? That's your call.
If you DO end up buying it, let me know what you think of the material and let me know if I'm right about the "puffiness" of it compared to HOE or Strathmore wool.

I asked for a weaver as well, but I didn't get an answer to that question (I don't know whether or not that means she doesn't know, or just missed the question).

Not sure it was anyboy here. Based on the biddin history, looks like somebody poached it near the end. Actually saw 2 bidders jump on at the end.

Nope, not me. Sorry guys. I've got my hands full with a few yards of flannel trying to make a pajama kilt to wear while my sport kilt is in the wash.

I would've had no problem with your bidding, I was just playing when I said to back off
And yeah, two people seemed to have jumped in at the end. I probably would've gone a little farther if I hadn't been in class

I agree with Rocky - looked fuzzy to me, like Saxony, rather than hard like kilting tartan. You could have made something from it, but I'm not sure I'd lose sleep over having the final bid go to someone else.

That's another reason I backed off. His comment confirmed what was going through my head when I said "it looks like it could be heavy," although the term I was thinking of was "coarse." Something about the diagonal lines in the stripes just didn't seem right - not crisp enough, or something.
Oh well, perhaps it's best that niether of us got it.
