Has anyone ever tried http://www.pipelinebagpipes.com/outfits/ for a kilt rental? They are primarily a bagpipe vendor but they also have full formal kilt rentals at what seems like a very reasonable price.

I guess I'll let the cat out of the bag here and I'll post again in the Announcements section. Nopadon and I have decided that after 9 years together that we will have a full marriage ceremony in our church. So we'll be wed on Sept. 9, 2006, and I'm planning on having my groomsmen kilted. I'm thinking about Pipeline because the price seems really good and the the tartan they describe as Celtic Crossings is damn close to an Ancient MacKay.

My favorite Stewart tartans, in order:

Grey (hard to find in medium weight)
    Black (Dad wears black)
Hunting (rented by kiltrental.com and Pipeline Bagpipes)

For this graduation, there is a reason why Royal Stewart is not on the list, although it really is beautiful.

Supposedly I am the eighth or ninth generation of Stewart in my line in Canada. I do know that my grandfather's grandfather worked on the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway in the late 1800s. So my connection to the Stewart clan is tenuous, and I have no idea what region of Scotland my ancestors left. So I don't think Stewart of Appin, Ardshiel, Atholl, Bute, Fingask, Galloway, Killiecrankie or Rothesay are appropriate. Mind you, we know there is no law preventing me from wearing any tartan, but I like to fancy that I am wearing an appropriate one.

Raphael, I'd love to take you up on your offer to see the Stillwater Black Stewart.

For the time being, I am not going to actively chase this. If the event happens, I'll get serious about it. I expect to know in a month or so. I thank you all for your advice. It has given me a lot to chew on.
