184 proof is very close to pure grain alcohol. Due to the chemical properties of Ethanol (grain) you cannot get 100% pure alcohol by distillation. At somewhere around 95% the Water is boiled off with the alcohol, giving 190 proof. However, you can make 100% (200 proof) Ethanol by chemical reaction. The lab at the chemical plant where I worked as an Instrument Tech had that grade, but it was kept under lock and key. Anyone who had reason to go into that storeroom had to sign in and out. At 184 proof, the remainder would be water with some flavoring elements added.

Yes, that 200 proof is used extensively in research hospitals. I wonder what kind of research those hospitals are into...?

Last time I had grain alcohol was about 10 years ago. Some friends had a big party and dumped fruit into the alcohol to flavor it. Being the dummy that I was I started eating the fruit thinking that I wouldn't get drunk....

    Hoo boy was I wrong...

The only time I had grain alcohol was in college (where else). They had mixed it with Hawaiian Punch and that's what it tasted like. I was sitting there drinking glasses of the punch and others kept refilling the glass. Finally, I had to get up to refill my glass and the legs just didn't want to cooperate.

That's the same night I slid UP the stairwell.

184 proof whiskey.....good for shining chrome, removing tarnish from copper, silver and brass. As a matter of fact, it cleans EVERYWHERE it goes

A friend had a similar 'cleansing' experience with 150 proof rum i had brought in while at college ...

I hate to think of what 184 proof would do....

Part of photorestoration involves cleaning daguerrotypes and some other old photos on glass or metal with grain alcohol (the over the counter stuff...not from the chemical supply house).

I almost had that experience with Strohs 80 rum. Its 160 proof

Made the mistake of drinking a shot (Didn't know it was 160, and my friends didn't bother to tell me, of course they were the ones who bought it) Nearly lost my dinner. I rallied, but just didn't drink much for the rest of the night.

this was the culprit in the story mentioned above...
was in college in Nova Scotia and had brought a couple bottles back from bermuda to give to friends.
One of the crew who swore he could drink anything and everything without showing any ill effects, challenged one of my petite female friends to do a few shots... She had been brought up on the stuff and did warn him NOT TO BREATHE after downing the shot - slam it down . swallow & wait a minute for it all to settle & then breath. She even went first to show him how it was done. He figured if she can do it, he could do it just as well. Poured himself a good sized shot, sniffed it to make sure it was legit, downed it quite well BUT hiccuped once it hit his stomach and gasped for air.

It took him about 20 minutes to speak again - and his first words were of the obscene variety - and took us about an hour to stop laughing. havent stopped giving him grief about the story to this day (almost 20 years later - damn i am old!!!)

Your vehicle would also run pretty well on it too. But at the price they are more than likely to chatge, Gasoline would be cheaper anywhere in the world.
