Would also suggest wearing your sporran with a leather sporran strap rather than the metal chains that come with most of them.

I got my first Stillwater Standerd back in Oct. The ones I wear to work are washed twice a week, pilling has not a problem with them.

My personal experience is about piling. I can shave it off, but after some more wear (especially the area behind the sporran) fuzz comes back. Ive had for a year now and it does look rather fuzzy. And another thing about it is the static it creates after wearing for a few minutes.

I've had my first Stillwater for about a year now...13 months and I"ve washed it three times. I wear it about once a week, maybe once every two weeks. I will admit, the water I washed it in (in the bathtub) was pretty awful, last time when I took it out.

    Here's what I did:

Warm water, a little more liquid detergent than usual in the tub, about 3 inches deep.....slosh, slosh, slosh for about ten minutes.

    YUCK.... drained water out.

Repeat. Not so yuck this time.

Now, same amount of warm/hot water, no soap for a rinse.

    Another rise, cool water.

In the WASHING machine for a spin-dry.

hangg from hanger overnight, nicely arrangining pleats, and air-dry.

    Iron
