Marching with banner in the wind

OK, I am going to march in my first parade ever on St. Patrick's day, the kilt I will be wearing is a Ireland's National USA Kilt Casual (the best I have), I walk in this kilt all the time and don't have a lot of problems with the wind, but when I am walking, I can always grab quick if I feel an updraft, since I will be carrying a banner I won't have free hands. The few times this kilt has 'started to go', has always been in and around building, which is where we will be marching.

Any suggestions if it is a windy day will be greatly appreciated! I will be wearing bike shorts underneath, so it won't be a big deal, but I would hate to ruin the mystery for all those watching. I was thinking of creating some sort of modesty strap that attaches to the inner apron and a few of the pleats in the back, don't know if it will work or how it will affect the swing etc.

Here's what I do- if I think theres a chance of exposure due to wind, I wear a pair of boxers with smilies on them.

those will make it look like he is under attack by a swarm of rabid insects (Yes I know insects dont get rabies BUT YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN!!!)

Plus is a particularly strong gust comes along he coudl get whacked in a rather sensitive area rather harshly!!!

Two small safety pins - one each on the inner front center & back center with a long loop of thread tieing the two together, going between your legs should stop major fly ups without interfeering with the swing of the kilt too much.

NAAAAH - if you are going to be perfectly decent even if the kilt is doing a Marylin, let it fly - the rule is, after all, not to alarm the ladies....

but that doesn't mean you shouldn't entertain them.

Hmm it depends I guess...Will you be in a position where you can take one hand off of the banner in the case of an updraft...I say go with the Onion's idea...might be a little safer too

I think I'd just be grinning like that guy who looses his swimming trunks in the Enzyte commercial.

On the serious side, I've been in very windy conditions and in one case was able to use the modesty snaps on my Workman's Utilikilt to keep the kilt from flying up around my ears.

In the other case, Sherri stood close behind me to keep the Bear kilt down during a tour of the Basilica St. Francis of Assisi, Italy.

Apparently, it kind of floated up in the back without my notice, answering the age-old question for a couple of the older ladies on our tour. Although I have wonder why they chose that day to be behind us when they were usually in front of us on the other tours.
