    Rain ?

We have an Irish Faire coming up this weekend in LA and I was planning to wear my beligerently green Irish National kilt to but the weather is gonna be wet. How do you boys deal with rain and such ? I know wet jeans are no picnic, what about a wet kilt?

I have attended several events while Kilted and the rain was doing its thing. I just take an umbrella with me to keep my hair dry, the Kilt does fine.

As far as the Heavy Events go, we will be throwing rain or shine. And kilts like water, dont worry about those.

Vancouver rains all the time and I don't usually think twice about wearing in the rain. It the rain is really bad, I will bring along an umbrella or wear a goretex jacket.

I would think that if rain was a problem - Scotsmen would have abandoned the kilt long ago...

I work outdoors and the rain has never been a problem. Rain jackets, Inverness rain capes and umbrellas take of the problem rather well.

Just pull up your socks, and wear a warm jacket.

...and bring a folding umbrella, just in case. ;)

Find a tent and drink some Murphy's, or Beamish.

There's a great book on camping that I have that was written by an author that seems to be mostly a very crabby old guy from Minnesota. In it he advises you that jeans are right out...the "trousers of death" if you get them wet...cotton holds the water and hypothermia (and a slow, miserable death out in the outback where your body will be picked at by coyotes and not found for weeks) follows. His advice is to go with wool trousers...Heller Hanson or Helly Hanson or something like that is the specific brand that he recommends.

    No jeans, no worries.

How about the difference between a wool kilt and a synthetic kilt?
