I don't understand why so many folks have problems with the velcro garters. Place the side with the nap against your leg, wrap the other end around your leg and fasten it down. If they are long enough, the hooks will only contact the elastic strap and come nowhere near your socks. It helps if the velcro is narrower than the elastic. I use 1.5" elastic and 1" velcro. Very comfy, and I can adjust them throughout the day to stay that way.
