If its something thats comfortable for you to do.
We were talking to a couple in the pub on Saturday, after watching the remaining six nations rugby matches being shown on the big screen. That was the only time my Cilt came into a conversation. I was simply asked by this chap and his wife (we had never seen them before) 'do you always wear your Cilt on match days''. After I explained that I have been wearing my Cilt pretty much all of the time in the past few months, his wife said ' If its something thats comfortable for you to do, do it .. I don't blame you at all'. That was it .. we then continued talking about the Rugby and the 'Rev James' which is a beer thats served in the pub. Just thought I'd post this to support those who are still just venturing out in their Cilts/Kilts for the very first times. If you can just be yourself in your Cilt/Kilt and carry on as normal, you'll be just fine I'm sure.

I agree Derek.
My little town/city is less than 7,000. Been kilted full time for over seven months now and off and on for a year and a half.
I very seldom get comments anymore. I do get "the look" from the tourists who come through in droves.
But the local comments are gone. Coworker comments are gone. Like someone else posted, the big deal would be if I showed up to work in pants again.

Indeed, Just be yourself and it all will work out. I spent Friday kilted at work and at the pubs later on. (Irish national tartan)
I was a bit nervous due to the fact that my lab is above a large metel fabrication facility. I figured those guys would snicker, comment, etc. Nothing of that though. One actualy said Rich, If anyone can get away with wearing a kilt to work you can...

Not to get too far off topic, but take a look at the kilt hose link between first & second post. Then check out specials. I have several pair, very serviceable, very affordable. Excellant service, fast delivery.

I must admit that I have been a little bit disappointed that I get almost no coments at all, the nearest full size grocery store is in a small farming town about 15 minutes away. No one said anything about my kilt. The small community where I get mail, has two convience stores and a post office. Not a word. If I drive 45 minutes to the nearest large city, I might get a "nice kilt" maybe.

Boy - how things change... I remember going through seven kinds of worrry about "if" I should start wearing my new kilt to teach in this semester. With the support from my boss and this crazy little clan I walked into the classroom first day of class in January and swallowed hard. In just a few months its gone from an oddity to the norm (as normal as I can get...) and now - each week I only hear about my kilt I haven't worn one to class yet!
If you are like me - I say don't let your assumptions about how others will react stop you from wearing a kilt - its likely a bigger deal in your head than it is to anyone else..

Indeed, just be yourself. It's a fact that most of the objections often come from ourselves.

Derek,
You are one of many people I know, who just emits comfort while donning the Cilt. Glad that others have noticed. Well done.

Glen ... Like you, personally I don't think anyone really need say much more when asked 'why are you wearing a Cilt' .. 'because its so comfortable'. I have also added on a few occasions that at the price they cost, I refuse to just hang it in the wardrobe waiting for that 'special occasion'.
