Great compliment
My lovely wife Brenda and I went to dinner on St. Patrick's Day and while I was getting drinks at the bar I saw a woman trying to get my attention. She was seated with another woman and two men at a booth near the bar. When I looked in her direction she motioned me over to her booth and said "Finally a man who can be a man and wear the kilt!" I thanked her and when I went to pay for the drinks the bartender told me they had been taken care of by the lady I had just spoken with. What a great way to start the weekend and St. Pat's day!

Most women do love the kilt.
Its only gentlemanly that we oblige them.

Well done indeed. Many times by just being polite to someone and wearing the Kilt has gotten me some fringe benefits like free drinks. No matter how often it happens, I still loving hearing these types of tales!

That was a great compliment. I think that many women see it that way, and it's a big part of the attraction. We may look good in our kilts, but it also makes a statement of self-confidence, and inner strength. We dress for comfort rather than what society thinks we should wear. The ladies who are members can correct me if I'm wrong.

Kilt appeal, and everyone wants to be nice to the guy wearing a Kilt, as they get all the attention, and some of it might rub off on them.

if I had known that in college, I probably could have completed my degree without taking out any loans!
hmm...I wonder if the government really knows how many bars they are keeping open through stafford loans?

I didn't get a free drink, but...
...yesterday afternoon, after the very nice looking lady at Subway said "I really like your kilt", twice, with a definite emphasis on the "really", she gave me lots of extra turkey and a free cookie.
I wore my MacDonald 6-yard (not a tank, but definitely a humvee) all day yesterday at school (workday...can't wear it with students on campus), then to the community college for a three hour class yesterday evening. Three ladies in the class next door came to my room and asked lots of questions, showered me with compliments, and one said that she intended to get one for her husband.
All in all a very nice day...
...and I certainly wish I had done this thirty years ago. I can't remember ever not wanting a kilt, but knew that I couldn't afford one and the accessories. Now that I can make most of my gear and have discovered modest-priced garments, I'm ready to make it a very regular part of my life.
I appreciate the class of a full-wool hand-stitched tank, but I hope I never get to the point where I snub the less expensive alternatives that allow folks like me to participate in my heritage.
