This question should really be in the FAQ's. It gets asked at least once by each new member.

"Tank" is the X Marks term for a hand-sewn, 8 yard, at least 13 oz., Worsted Wool Traditional kilt.

It was coined about two years ago by a former member to denote the durability of those most prized and sought after of kilts. They are so durable and practical that many are in their second or even third generation of owners.

    I wear the kilt because:
    Swish + Swagger = Swoon.

That's our term for a traditional "8-yard" wool kilt, hand sewn to your measurements. I'm not sure whether the weight of the fabric is critical to the definition, but if it is, then the kilt would be made of 16 oz. or higher.

The term is slang that is specific to this site; one of the members started using it a long time ago, and it just seemed to catch on.

<edit> I see Steve beat me to it.

Guys, we REALLY need to make a comprehensive FAQ sticky. It seems like only yesterday that we were counting up to 1,000 members, now we have 1,263 members, and probably many more lurkers; these people want to know what we're talking about!!
