Moosehead you make some good points, but you are a victim of your own arguement, your in Canada, I can tell you that the feeling in Scotland is that the regiments have been shafted, The Scottish regiments are no more or no less important than other British regiments overall but to Scots they represent Scotland in the British Army, there is a general Erosion of Scottish Culture within Britain, for example during G8 the flag of the Union was flown and not the Saltire, which is clearly wrong, but happened anyway.
The reducing the regiments to Battailions is another Erosion of Scots culture, Yes Regiments have been almalgamated before but never to this extent.
Eventually there will be a drive to make all British forces part of a greater European army- this must not happen, the Morale our armed serviceman and Women needs to be maintained and respected, However every serviceman and women of the Royal Regiment of Scotland has the 100% support, and respect of Scots, Its simply the name and the manner of the systematic destruction of our heritage that we have a problem with. If that makes me a Wanker then so be it.
Bear in mind that the people behind this are people that are not fit to lick the boots of a single Jock, and the man who could have intervened and stopped all this is Tony Blair -a man born in Edinburgh!
