North of St Andrews
New thread so I won't be stepping on Adam's question. What do you know about these guys? Also, opinions on Advance Highlands?
Thanks
David

I purchased a pair of Kilt Hose from them a few months back. They were not really for guys with large calf's but they have stretched to become comfortable and look nice. I noticed they have changed brands and may not be the same hose I purchased. Delivery was about 2 weeks which I assume is normal for Scotland to the US. As far as the Hose go, I was happy with them.

Do you mean Avance Highland (eBay seller)? I won a Prince Charlie jacket/waistcoat from them. Very pleased; good service, good garments. Only disappointment was in the postal service, but I don't hold that against them.

I've purchased a few things from North of St. Andrew's. No complaints, at all.

I've just ordered a couple of pairs of hose from them, still waiting. Lousy communications so far.

They are slow to answer emails, but are great when phoned. I talked to the sister of the owner (What a delightful conversation!) and she confirmed that this is typical.
The hose I received were just fine. Mid-weight material, good quality knitting. Shipped in good time.

You get them from ebay? I ordered Air Force Blue and Army Green.

WEll, my hose arrived yesterday. Can't complain about the quality. Typical medium-weight, wool blend. My only complaint about the hose is that they aren't long enough on my legs (I'm 6'2"), with only enough for one turnover. Considering they were only $10 each includinh shipping, they're fine for out and about.
The company's communications still suck!! Sent 5 emails, both through ebay and through their site and none were answered. Oh, and they took 5 weeks to get here.

The ones I got are probably very similar. I only get the one turn over and because my calves are so large it is stretched very thin that it lloks like single ply.
I've actually started to prefer the hose from Hamilton Dry Goods. The kilt hose are cotton but they are very thick ribbed and reac over the knee and give me a good thick cuff. I don't need garters to hold them up either. They make wool socks but I've not tried them. He also carries many socks and colors not listed on the site so it's good to call him and ask if he has or can get what you want.
I'll hopefully have some pics after the weekend of these socks in action.

I've been eyeballing those cotton ones, just wasn't sure how long they were. Do you get a better turnover than with the NoStA ones?
