I used to fence over 40 years ago in college. Bet a kilt would give you more manuverability - and advantage.
And Oz,
I'm down in Hopiland now, but looking at the kilt, no clue how they could embroider it other than the narrow apron, which would make it look like a loincloth....not sure that's the look I want.
Wore it to work yesterday and for the drive down to Hopi today...trying to break it in by wearing it a lot. Really coming to like it a lot....but then, I'm a sucker for most any kilt....
