Well, I guess I will add myself to the list.

    Another I.T. Geek
Been doing this for almost 20 years, from field service to desktop support. Before that I was in Hotel/Restaurant Mgmt. for 6 years.

Currently I do desktop support for the 2nd largest music company, at their Audio/Video Studios in New York City.
Wore a kilt the first time to work on Tartan Day, got very positive responses from all, just a few "skirt" jokes from friends trying to get a rise from me.

Of course I will be wearing them in the future!

I am the Regional Quality Control Manager for one of the countries largest construction companies. Since I am subject to being called out to the field on a moment's notice, wearing the kilt to work is out of the question for me.

Our field safety and dress code requires that long pants be worn. We are under constant scrutiny by three layers of safety people, our own, the insurance carriers and the clients. Violation of the safety rules is not an option for an upper level manager.

    interesting thread...

I work as an Estimator/Project Manager for a midsized General Contractor ~ $35-$60 million year.

Been doing it for almost 7 years. Kilts really aren't an option due to meeting with clients or being on site. Some of the real estate brokers/owners/property managers aren't that opened minded regarding dress. So khakis and a dress shirt are usually my standard office uniform.

(Shhhh, don't tell anyone, probably jumping ship in about a year. Bored with the job and might be getting a job with Shell)

After 12 years as a Navy Officer, I became and IT consultant for DoD logistics systems. After 10 years of that, I was laid-off and am now a capacity analyst for DoD in the same place where I was a consultant. I wore my kilt for tartan day, and got no flak, but I don't have enough kilts to wear them every day to work. Just have to wait and see.
If they outlaw guns, can we go back to using swords?

Chalk up another IT Guy. I'm a database developer for a commercial construction company. I wear a kilt to work every Friday (or any day I think it's Friday ) . Took the expected ribbing for a while but I knew it was working when people started making comments about "Friday's are supposed to be casual.". It's a private company so as long as the owner is happy with the kilt he's fine with it.

I work for a county government. I haven't quite got nerve yet to wear my kilts at work yet. Don't think it will be a problem since I work on the computer most of the day.

I was planning on wearing one on Tartan Day last week but didn't. My wife asked me why not...I said I was giving blood that day and was not sure I could hop up on the table without flashing folks She said good point.

I wish. Even if I was making a % of the profit I make for the company I'd probably stay too. They're really good people, unfortunately, I've progressed about as far as I'm going to go in our corporate structure. Its a family run company, and buying into the company will never be an option.

Actually, check your PM, got a question.

Assistant Retail Manager for a cigar distributor. So far I've only worn
the kilt a few times at work but it has been well received by most
in my company. They even put my kilted photo up on their website.
It helps that this town has a strong celtic community, there's a store
that sells kilts right across the street so I don't look out of place at all.
