We were deploying from the dock to the desert site KKMC in the very early days of Desert Storm. As usual, the convoy had some female drivers.
The religious police in Saudi frown on women driving and made their displeasure well known. It took some shifting to put a male behind the wheel of each vehicle, even if some of us pilots had to look like drivers.
As soon as the convoy was out of the populated areas the real drivers got back in their proper places.
At a rest stop 8 hours later I was stretching my legs and happened upon a deuce-and-a-half with the following in white chalk scrawled across the tailgate.
"I've got an M-16 and PMS, any questions?"
