Guess no one has both a SportKilt and a USAKilt casual.

Dang...I don't really wanna be the one to do this....already have one semi-trad on order with Rocky.....

I don't own both but i do own a USAK and have looked at the SK, Other then the small things about sewing. I think the bigest thing is the material Kinda like Rocky pointed out. I think it was an older type of SK but if the still use the same material the SK is pretty tin and flimsy.

I only have a USA casual, not a sportkilt...but I gotta say a few good words about PV...

....I sort of expected the PV to be good because that's what my daughter's grammar school uniforms is made of. This stuff has proved uncanny. Ever see the movie "The Man In The White Suit" with Alec Guinness? He comes up with a fabric that never wears out and never gets dirty...so the fabric manufacturers HAVE to get rid of him because they would never sell another yard of fabric again...no one would ever need it once they had clothes made out of Guinness' character's fabric. These school uniforms are like that: they get handed down and over so many times that it's hard to keep track and I'm sure that my daughter's first grade uniform is still out ther somewhere after eight years...the only people who ever actually BUY new uniforms are the "newbies" who don't know about the "uniform exchange" bit.

If I was going to become a super-hero I'd forgo spandex in favor of PV...

Poly cotton has it's place in permanent press shirts but that's where it should stay.

I have a USAK casual and semi-trad, and also a SK. However, my SK is the older style without the pleats sewn down, no belt loops, fringe, etc., so can't really comment on the new style. I have not checked the prices lately, but doesn't the SK with all the options come to about the same price as a USAK casual? If so, based on the quality and fabric, I would go with the USAK. I am wearing my Ireland's National USAK casual again today and I really love this kilt. Easy to care for, hard to wrinkle, just throw it into the wash. What more can I say?

Yes, too bad there is no relatively cheap source for a heavier weight PV, say 14-16oz.

Not to bash anyone, but perhaps, based on the evolution of kilting thread, once people discovered the better made kilts like USA kilts, Bear, SWK, etc. they are more hesitant to order from Sportkilt again. The Sportkilts that a lot of people started kilting with sound like rubbish to me, and I would not be willing to order from them again once I had moved up the quality scale. So while the improvements made to Sportkilt may be significant, their previous efforts and reputation may be responsible for the lack of comparison. Just a thought.
