Not to bash anyone, but perhaps, based on the evolution of kilting thread, once people discovered the better made kilts like USA kilts, Bear, SWK, etc. they are more hesitant to order from Sportkilt again. The Sportkilts that a lot of people started kilting with sound like rubbish to me, and I would not be willing to order from them again once I had moved up the quality scale. So while the improvements made to Sportkilt may be significant, their previous efforts and reputation may be responsible for the lack of comparison. Just a thought.

Hey Colin,

You're probably right talking about the basic "gathered" SportKilt. Know when the one with sewn down pleats, custom length, and belt loops arrived it made my two gathered SportKilts look like skirts to me.

Now that SportKilt offers a kilt option, was curious to see how their sewn pleat option stacks up against the USAKilt casual model.

Looking more and more like I'll have to buy one myself...hmmmmm which tartan....hmmmm

If you DO get one, do me a favor and wear it around for a while and tell me what you think. I'll send you a USAK Casual for comparison purposes ONLY (read as "random tartan not in your size"). That way, you can give us a side by side independant comparison.

Sorry if this is a tangent but without even getting into quality you can easily rule out sport kilt based on the fact that they are not as well made (lines may or may not line up) and once you add on all the bells and whistles and then add shipping and if you are one of the larger sizes you will most likely be over the price of a USA Casual. One of their basic kilts as I recall is around $70 then add $12 for fringe, $18 for sew down and $12 for loops then $6 to $10 for shipping = about $120. I can get a great kilt from Rocky delivered for $110. No debate in my mind. Rocky can probably even get the tartan you want even if it's not on his web site samples.

I do have an upgraded SportKilt...but don't have a USAKilt Casual to compare it too.

And sure Rocky...when the plastic cools off may try one.

I have two of each, and there is really no comparison. The USAK Casual is far superior I all respects.

The second SportKilt I purchased is one of the upgraded models and it still doesn’t come close. The only reason I got it was to get a Kilt in the Leatherneck Tartan.

I assume that the only difference between the Casual and the Semi-trad is more material and belts instead of Velcro. And if there were a couple more Tartan options, I’d have one of those too.
