I am still Atkinsing - I use Dr A's New Diet Revolution, a late edition - the earlier ones are not so good.

Today for dinner I ate roast chicken with mushrooms and a salad then strawberries and cream. That's a diet?

It seems to keep working. My Black Stewart is too big again. Maybe if I just trim a couple of inches off the aprons I can get away without disturbing the pleats.

At least the kilts I've made myself are fairly easy to adjust, though I did not expect to have to do it quite so often. Perhaps by the end of this year I will have shrunk down to a fairly consistent waist size. I find that my waist is the most variable measurement I have. It seems to be the place of choice for both weight gain and loss.

I was trying to go slowly - to give the skin time to adjust. I don't want to look as though I am wearing a kilt even when I'm not.

Next update: Another two pounds lost! The past couple of mornings, I've weighed in at right around 230. I go to bed around 232-ish, but that's because I drink a lot of water throughout the day; by the time I get up, I've either used up or peed off the excess, so I'm pretty comfortable claiming the two pound loss.

...and I don't have to pull the strap as tightly to get to the last hole on my Weathered Lamont. This sorta' worries me though; it's the nicest "traditional" I have - the 2005 Standard NS SWK that I have pales to insignificance in comparison. I have to ask myself, "how soon will it be too big?" I can't really afford to buy more right now, although that new Saffron kilt is calling to me...

Woo hoo!! It's official; I'm losing weight - 230 last week to 226-7 (it's hard to tell from 6' away) yesterday and today!

I kinda' wish I had one of those doctor's balance beam scales, then I could keep pushing the little weight further and further over. - Alright, I admit it, I'm excited!

    Iolaus,

"I kinda' wish I had one of those doctor's balance beam scales, then I could keep pushing the little weight further and further over. - Alright, I admit it, I'm excited!"

I have a doctor's office balance beam scale and its great; use it every morning, if I have to move the weight to the right, I know I need to take immediate action.

Congratulations on the weight loss so far, keep at it even though you might haver to have your WL altered, a small price to pay.

If you keep at it, we'll have to start calling you Medium Paul.

    Iolaus:

I really wish you the best of luck. I lost 25 lbs since October and am more or less at an ideal weight. I already used to eat a fairly balanced diet, although I did make some changes, and excerised 2-3 times a week; I just ate way too much. I started setting out proportions for myself and would eat outside of that. It really did the trick.

The funniest part about it was I was inspired by a friend who had gone Atkins diet and had somewhat explained the hypothesis of the diet to me. However I could never imagine eating what he ate, so I ate the exact opposite. For instance he eats eggs and bacon for breakfast and I eat yogurt and fruit. I call it the anti-Atikins diet.

Anyway, losing weight is not easy and I wish everyone here a healtier life.

Well, I went to the beach and weighed a couple of days after I got back and I had lost 3.5 lbs. I was pretty good while I was there but the last day I blew it. I'm shocked that I lost weight but we did do an awful lot of walking while we were there. I'm at 220.5 now. There was a nice little Irish Pub called O'Flynn's there on Main St. in N. Myrtle. I had some good ol' traditional fish and chips and Irish Bread Pudding. The only bad thing was the music. Some guy was in the bar playing Italian music and then Johnny Cash. Didn't seem to fit.

So far this year I've managed to lose about seven pounds. It would be more, but I seem to gain back two pounds for every three I lose. At least it's on a downward trend.

    Fantastic work Iolaus...

For me, I'd love to be back down around 210. Being 6'3", anything less than that and I'd start to look like a beanpole.

Good thing is, I've found the exact cause of my gain ( up to around 235): I have a computer job with an on-call cellphone. Wost possible thing for weight management.

Anyway, two rounds of indoor soccer a week, and a pregnant wife keeps me plenty busy, although no time for a gym.

regardless, I'm with you all the way Iolaus...just make sure you can still fit your kilts!

Another week down, another pound (or three) lost! Last week I was sayin' "226-7"; this week it's very definitely down to 224, maybe a hair lower.

    Come on 205 - I think I can, I think I can, I think I can, I think I can...
